Sponsorship

A gigantic thank you ...

... to the wonderful ladies at 1st for Women Insurance Brokers who have so enthusiastically given their full support and sponsorship to the Deshun's Mount Elbrus and Kilimanjaro expeditions.

Not only have 1st for Women enabled Deshun to set her 7 Summits dream in motion but also to do so in celebration of womanhood  -  the perfect message to women everywhere!

Deshun reached the summit of Mount Elbrus on 7 August and flew the 1st for Women banner from the highest point in Europe!

On 5 January 2008 the 1st for Women banner was
raised on Africa's highest peak, Kilimanjaro.

Other sponsors, partners and friends

We've already mentioned that 1st for Women sponsored the Elbrus and Kilimanjaro expeditions in full.
International mountaineering is costly and it is entirely through sponsorships that programs such as the "7 Summits" are possible.    Other friends that regularly contribute to Deshun's climbing programs, either with goods or services, are:

Our wonderful friends at the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in South Africa (Morne du Plessis,
Prudence, Marvin and Lesley-Ann) are always so supportive of Deshun's adventures and kindly sponsored airfares for the trek to Everest in April 2007.
Deshun is a Friend and Ambassador for Laureus in SA and regularly participates in projects, fundraising and functions run by the organisation.

All our clothing and equipment for climbing and trekking is sourced through Ventures for Africa in Cresta Mall.   The ever helpful Palma (owner of Ventures for Africa) has often sponsored Deshun through discounts on goods purchased and also provides an outlet for Deshun 7 Summits book calendars and other merchandise.

Deshun is proud of the long and warm relationship with Pick 'n Pay who so generously provided a store card with which she was able to stock up on all the food, toiletries and other items required for the entire trek to Everest in April 2007.

Helen Mina of Corona Travel Services handles the unenviable task of getting Deshun and Jan to the various corners of the globe and back.   She and Polly manage to do this remarkably efficiently, always bearing costs in mind and never seem to lose their good humour even when faced with the umpteenth last minute change!
They share the excitement of the expedition with us and are an invaluable part of the expedition "team"!

We're in the PINK!!!

We're tickled pink!  Due to sponsorship by 1st for Women Insurance Brokers, Deshun has successfully summitted the first two mountains in her 7 Summits program
