Tackling the [economic] summit!
Whether on expedition in the Himalayas or in the commercial corridors of Sandton, when adverse "weather" sets in, and for extended periods, special skills are required to remain focused, realistic and to survive.
Deshun's "Tackling the [economic] Summit" not only ventures into the fascinating world of the high altitude climber, but also examines realistic and practical methods of maintaining overall positivity in times of difficulty - particularly when even the smaller daily summits require a lot more effort and disappointments may arise more frequently.
A journey to the summit is often interrupted by outside forces. Bad weather stalls many expeditions, some members must, through necessity, sometimes to the point of abandoning the climb altogether. Even perfect conditions don't guarantee that the end goal will be reached but when economic skies darken and the goal seems increasingly unattainable it's easy to believe that success is impossible - unless one has been equipped with special coping skills. With those skills one can not only weather the storm but also recognise the lessons the storm presents and use those to regroup and plan a new way forward.

Tackling the Summit!
How to stick to your goals.
Climbing Everest is like reaching a series of mini summits. Every time you reach a personal milestone, you've mentally and emotionally reached the top of another mountain.
From Couch Potato to Mountaineer
From childhood in an Eastern Cape township to high altitude mountaineer, Deshun takes her audience on an enthralling adventure of hope, determination and achievement.
Attitude for Altitude - The basics of leadership are universal
The same leadership principles apply whether on a mountain, on a cricket pitch or in the boardroom.
* To become a good leader, one must learn to be a good follower
* Modern leadership is more about flexibility of role, than knowing all the answers
* Leading sometimes means that you have to take your place at the back of the pack
* Making any decision is better than no decision at all!
* If rank and position is the objective, true leadership suffers
* Leadership is about taking people to heights they don't think they can reach by themselves
