Johannesburg Child Welfare Society

The Johannesburg Child Welfare Society approached Deshun and 99 other South Africans to help raise funds for the JCWS.

According to Carly Ritz, communications officer at JCWS, 'throughout literature, psychology, architecture, history and even story telling, a door signifies more than a simply entrance or exit'. Thus, it was decided to commission these 100 people from television, radio, sports, designers, cartoonists and even a mountaineer, to breathe fresh life into the use of doors. To turn a simple door into a piece of art.

"We have chosen doors as they are more significant to our organisation", says Ritz. "Johannesburg Child Welfare represents the entrance to the home/family, and for us, it is the symbol of new beginnings and new opportunities"

The doors are on display at various shopping centres around Johannesburg. Deshun's door is at Hyde Park Shopping Centre.
