Hanging out with the "Bokke" at Laureus awards!

(left) No prizes for guessing who these gorgeous guys are.   Deshun says they're even more gorgeous in real life and really nice guys too!

(right)  Boogeying with Jake White at the party for all the Laureus guests on Sunday night.  Deshun looked  stunning in an outfit by fabulous Johannesburg design label, Sun Goddess, who also dressed her for the gala awards ceremony.

The international Laureus sports awards were held last night in St Petersburg and by now you probably know that the Bokke beat the Ferrari racing team, AC Milan, etc to win best international sports team for 2007!    It was a magical occasion and Deshun says it was quite overwhelming to see so many famous sports people.   Just  imagine being in the same room as Roger Federer, Lewis Hamilton and most of the international sports stars you can think of, not to mention the Springbok rugby team!

For anyone unfamiliar with the international Laureus organisation here's a short excerpt from their website

"The Laureus World Sports Awards is the only global sports awards honouring the greatest sportsmen and women across all sports each year.  The winners are selected by the ultimate sports jury - the 43 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, a collection of the world's greatest sportsmen and women.  The living legends of sport honouring the great athletes of today. 

The members of the Laureus World Sports Academy present were: Giacomo Agostini, Marcus Allen, Franz Beckenbauer, Boris Becker, Sergey Bubka, Nadia Comaneci, Marcel Desailly, Kapil Dev, Sean Fitzpatrick, Dawn Fraser, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Marvin Hagler, Tony Hawk, Mike Horn, Miguel Indurain, Kip Keino, Franz Klammer, Edwin Moses, Robby Naish, Ilie Nastase, Morné du Plessis, Hugo Porta, Mark Spitz and Steve Waugh."

As you can see Laureus is run by a veritable who's who of famous sports men and women from years gone by (including Morne du Plessis who head up the SA chapter of the organisation) and it's easy to see why their annual awards really are considered the 'Oscars' of the sporting world.

What a wonderful opportunity to be with and also be one of the great sportspeople of the world - congratulations to all South Africans who were part of this special occasion - hope you had a really great time Desh. Congratulations for being one of this elite group.
